A major update is available for the iPhone with iOS 18. Now Apple is quietly releasing an update for the AirPods headphones. This is what is known so far.
Apple’s new iPhone operating system, iOS 18, has just been released. Now the company is releasing an update for one of its other devices: the AirPods headphones.
As the news portal 9to5Mac reported, various AirPods models from Apple are currently receiving software updates – both older and newer versions.
You can use the serial number to check whether you have already received the update
You won’t receive a push notification for updates to your Apple headphones, and you don’t have to start them manually. They will be installed while the headphones are charging. In the settings under Bluetooth, you can check whether you have received the update using the blue “Info” button next to your headphones. Depending on the model, the following version number should appear there:
Apple has not yet made any announcement about how each version will improve the listening experience with your headphones. 9to5Mac suspects that some bug fixes may also be included. Keep an eye out for that when listening.
Speaking of bugs: There is currently an annoying iPhone bug in iOS 18 that is triggered when you reply to a message and can lead to the loss of your data.
