After the role change, Hellraiser 2’s boss wasted no time in outlining plans to improve the game, declaring that Arrowhead needs to get more developers playing the game

In case you missed it, Arrowhead’s Johan Pilestedt stepped down from his role as the studio’s CEO yesterday in order to focus more on helping develop Hellraiser 2 from a creative perspective. He also seems to have wasted no time in getting to work on addressing known issues with the game, and he’s already outlined some of his ideas and plans for everyone on Twitter.

With Pilestedt now serving only as Arrowhead’s chief creative officer and chairman, having handed over many of the operational responsibilities to new CEO Shams Jorjani, it’s not surprising to see Pilestedt immediately engage with the game’s community in a fairly open way. Even if the odds are slim, it may be a while before the changes some players are looking forward to actually start to materialize in the game.

In response to a slew of player comments on his tweet regarding the character switch, Pilestedt talked a lot about the current state of Hellraiser 2 and what he and the studio will be doing to try and remedy the situation.

“The first thing we want to do is make sure the developers have more time to play the game. It’s hard to make good decisions if the focus isn’t there,” he responded when one user asked him how he handles player feedback. “Secondly, I want to make sure we’re actively paying attention to sentiment and fully understanding the reasons for the feedback. My working theory is that TTK is too high.”

In response to concerns that time-to-kill observations might lead the studio to change the difficulty of taking down enemies, making the game less challenging, Pilestedt added: “The game doesn’t have to be easier. It’s just that these weapons occasionally feel like peashooters.”

This wasn’t the only time he took aim at the state of the game’s gear, either, as he replied “agree with all points” after one player suggested the studio should “start by making armor have actually interesting properties” and claimed that all of Polar Patriots War Contract’s guns are “mediocre or terrible.” On that last point, Pilestedt also said his plan is to more actively help the studio with weapon balance patches, which has been a big sticking point for many hardcore players so far.

So it seems the now-former CEO isn’t wasting any time outlining and deeply implementing the changes he deems necessary to please the gaming community. Be sure to stay tuned for more Hellraiser 2 news as the Second Galactic War rages on.
