Nintendo has successfully removed 8,535 GitHub repositories containing code for Switch emulator Yuzu through a single DMCA notification. Yes, following a settlement with Tropic Haze, the company behind the emulator, the process of completely erasing any clones or copies from the web is now in full swing.

Now, TorrentFreak reports that Nintendo submitted a DMCA notice to GitHub (a platform that allows a large number of developers to store and share code) earlier this week, and it resulted in the removal of many Yuzu repositories.
The notice initially singled out more than 100 repositories that Nintendo proposed providing access to Yuzu or code based on it, with the company arguing that the emulators “circumvented Nintendo’s technical protection measures and ran illegal copies of Nintendo Switch games” – regarding Like it did in litigation. However, the notification ended up affecting more repositories than specified.
“Because the network containing allegedly infringing content was reported to be over one hundred (100) repositories, and the submitter claimed that all or most forks were infringing to the same extent as the parent repository, GitHub processed 8,535 repositories targeting the entire network. Repository composition, including parent repositories,” the platform outlined in its response.
So, it’s a very efficient switch. GitHub does recommend that it contact all affected repository owners to provide them with information on how to submit a DMCA counter-notice and provide them with legal resources.
