Strategy fans on consoles have reason to be happy: Two current top titles from the well-known Age of Empires franchise are making the leap to Xbox consoles in the new year.
Micros oft, together with the developer World’s Edge, has confirmed that both the Definitive Edition of Age of Empires 2 and the more current Age of Empires 4 will no longer only be reserved for the PC in the future, but will also make the leap to the Xbox consoles. The release is scheduled for the new year 2023.
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, which was released for PC in 2019 and will now be available on Xbox on January 31, 2023, will start with this. We will have to wait longer for Age of Empires 4, which is also scheduled to appear in 2023, but it is not yet known when exactly.
Emma Bridle, Customer Voice Director at World’s Edge, adds that the Xbox versions will also be mouse and keyboard compatible. Accordingly, there should also be cross-play with the PC versions of both titles. And: Xbox Cloud Gaming will also be supported as a platform. By the way, if you prefer to play with a controller, you don’t have to worry: there will also be an adapted control option here.
Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition is a remaster of the classic PC strategy game; it was once one of the most popular games in the series ever, having launched in 1999. After many years of radio silence, the new Age of Empires 4 was released in 2021, which was well received by critics and fans alike.
