Aroged (via GamesIndustry.biz) reported that Quinn Duffy, Design Director Age of Empires 4 Developer Relic Entertainment announced his departure from the studio through a LinkedIn post. He has worked in this company for nearly 24 years.
“At Relic, I am passionate about both historical and real-time strategy types. That’s why I am very excited to help build a new part of this beloved iconic series,” Duffy said in his post. After a long tenure at Relic, he eventually became the design director of RTS games in 2010, which ended with the release of the popular Age of Empires 4.
Relic Entertainment is known for franchises such as “Company of Heroes” and “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War”. In recent years, it has been one of the few torchbearers of the RTS type. Thanks to the popularity of Age of Empires 4 is being released. It’s great to see a developer that sticks to its vision push the trend forward and create the gaming industry it wants to see and be a part of.
Age of Empires 4 is not only a premium entry in the long-established RTS franchise, but it also has continued support from Relic, with regular patches and updates coming soon. Fans are eager to get more of the benefits of RTS, and Relic is very happy to provide them. I am glad that Duffy persisted long enough to see this genre reappear.
Age of Empires 4 is now available on PC.
