Before the completely new Age of Empires IV is released, all fans of the franchise and those who want to become one should be given the opportunity to catch up on the earlier parts. Age of Empires and Age of Empires II are both already available as Definitive Editions, and Age of Empires III is said to have one. Interested parties will soon be able to get a first look at this new edition.
After the release of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition last year, Xbox Game Studios have now announced a beta test phase for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. Registered players have a chance to participate, but have to change a bit compared to the Beta of Age of Empires II. The developers want to change the structure of the test phase this time and promise shorter but more focused test phases. The first beta phases are expected to take place in the coming month of February.
The number of players is initially limited. First of all, fans of the original Age of Empires III should come to the train, which is why only a few invitations will be given for this first test phase. In March there will also be larger tests, to which significantly more players will be invited. Only in relation to the campaigns will there be only a "very small group" of players who can give feedback; the beta is therefore largely focused on the multiplayer part.
Registrations for the beta are through the official forums possible; Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition does not yet have a release date.
