In autumn, after years of development, Age of Empires IV was finally released. Work on the strategy epic will continue, but in future the team will have to get by without an important head.
As it has now become known, Quinn Duffy is leaving the Relic Entertainment development studio. He was with Relic for almost 24 years and played a key role in shaping the studio’s fortunes. He has now announced his departure himself through a post LinkedIn confirmed.
“At Relic, I had a passion for both the story and the real-time strategy genre, so I couldn’t have been more excited to have helped create a new part of this popular and iconic franchise,” Duffy said of reference on Age of Empires IV. He was the design director of the newest member of the historic RTS series, so he played a leading role. He has generally held this position at Relic since 2010.
Before Age of Empires IV, Duffy worked on other well-known brands for Relic such as Company of Heroes or Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. How things will go specifically for Duffy is not yet known; His successor at Relic has not yet been officially regulated.
What is certain is that the work on Age of Empires IV itself will of course continue; So Relic will be releasing further improvements and new content. The title is available on the PC and of course also included in Microsoft’s PC Game Pass.
