Fantasy world to immerse: Age of Wonders III is a festival for every fantasy fan. Superior elves and honorable people fight each other. Warlike orcs and proud dwarves want to assert their claims. Cunning goblins and the lizard-like draconians try to take advantage of it. When the neighboring dragon sets out to take revenge on you, even the most powerful ruler will work up a sweat. The myriad of stories that unfold as you play Age of Wonders III could fill several fantasy novels on their own.
Rundenstrategy par excellence: The gameplay is based on two pillars. On the one hand you have to administer your empire, build cities, develop raw materials and satisfy your citizens. It’s similar to Civilization, except that on the big maps you don’t deal with Romans and Vikings, but with elves and orcs. Fooling around is a good keyword, because the next conflict is usually only a few moves away. You fight the battles on separate cards and also in rounds. Your units only have a limited number of actions that you can use to trigger both movements and attacks. Because of these strengths, Age of Wonders III got a strong 82 points in the GameStar test!
Mighty Heroes: In addition to classic units such as swordtails and archers and more exotic fighters such as the flamethrower tank, particularly strong heroes cavort on the battlefields. Age of Wonders III also addresses the role player in you. The heroes come in different classes and of course with different skills. The druid commands wild animals and increases the birth rate in your realm. Warlords do best, well, war. Technocrats are true masters of sieges and villains roam the map of the world in disguise.
Huge scope: You may have already noticed: Age of Wonders III is bursting with playful variety! You choose from over 250 units, 300 talents, more than 100 buildings, countless heroes, spells and special abilities. In addition to the main story, which lasts around 20 hours, you can expect individual scenarios and of course the free game against the AI or human opponents. In the latter in particular, the game unfolds its full potential. In each new round, completely new challenges can arise and completely new stories can be experienced through the choice of races and heroes. Age of Wonders III offers almost unlimited replayability and is sure to entertain you for months!
