Ahead of Kraven the Hunter's release this week, a new report claims we already know: Sony's live-action Spider-Man universe is dead

Kraven the Hunter isn't out yet, but a new report has made it clear that Sony has now completed development on SUMC.

SUMC, or Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters, will go down in history for several reasons, including ridiculous names, movies featuring characters no one really cared about, and a huge waste of money. Kraven the Hunter will still be the latest entry in the Spider-Man-less Spider-Verse, releasing this Friday the 13th (seriously? That’s the date you picked?), but a new report from TheWrap basically Confirming this, yes, this will be Sony's last attempt at an interconnected universe of Spider-Man related characters.

A top talent agent reportedly told TheWrap that Sony has “developed what they want to develop now” and now it's “really about the next Spider-Man movie.” The film will be Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and set to be released in July 2026. It's apparently part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony is just helping to produce it. Got it. Another Sony insider told TheWrap that in addition to the spotlight on Spider-Man 4, the company will continue to focus on its upcoming animated sequel Beyond the Spider-Verse, which has a release date yet to be released. Definitely Spider-Man Noir. -Amazon action series starring Nicolas Cage.

You'll definitely notice that the emphasis here is on Spider-Man, you know, the character that people actually like, as opposed to a villain or supporting character that people are barely familiar with. What happens after that? Who knows! But I'm sure it won't involve Morbius.
