Alan Wake 2 is likely to be high on the wish list for quite a few players this year and so far it looks like it’s going to work – based on Remedy’s latest quarterly report.
Remedy Entertainment seems to have big plans for Alan Wake 2. There was talk of the studio’s most ambitious project, as well as the group’s best-looking game. This arouses the association that Remedy still has a lot to do to make the game meet its own requirements, but apparently the developers are on the right track and further than expected.
In the current financial report for the year 2022, studio boss Tero Virtala proudly announced that Alan Wake 2 is now fully playable from start to finish, a real milestone for development. All content will soon be completely integrated into the game, so that the studio can focus on the fine-tuning, which experience has shown will take some more time.
“Alan Wake 2 is in full production,” Virtala wrote. “The game will soon be fully content and playable from start to finish. We will then start polishing the experience. Alan Wake is a unique brand that the company holds dear today. Alan Wake Remastered has hasn’t generated any royalties yet. However, we expect sales to increase as the release of Alan Wake 2 is imminent and fans and new players alike seek to experience the original story on new generation consoles.”
Remedy is still sticking to a release this year for PX, PS5 and Xbox Series X – it now remains to be seen whether the developers are making good progress with the fine-tuning or whether unforeseeable problems will arise that will cause the potential date to falter. Let’s hope not, we really had enough postponements last year…
