Alan Wake 2 was one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2023. However, as Remedy fans know, the studio never stops working on a game after it’s released. Last year, we learned that the psychological horror-action game would be getting some bonus content.
Today, we got to see the DLC in action and learn more about it thanks to an appearance on stage at the Summer Game Fest kickoff event. Sam Lake took to the stage to show us the first look at the DLC, while also revealing some surprising news: the DLC will be available tomorrow, June 8, within 24 hours.

“This gives us a chance to really go out there… and we’ve done that before,” said Sam Lake, lead developer at Remedy Entertainment. The DLC will feature three fan-favorite playable characters in some wacky “what if” scenarios in Night Springs. You can also expect appearances from Shawn Ashmore and Jesse Foden. That’s awesome. I’m sure we’ll see more of Sam Lake, too.
The name Night Springs should be familiar to fans of Alan Wake, as it is the name of a fictional TV series that airs in the universe. Night Springs appears in several Remedy games, and its tone and atmosphere are largely based on Twin Peaks.
It’s clear from this trailer that Remedy’s Summer Game Fest will be primarily focused on expansions. Remedy actually briefly teased Night Springs when the game was announced last year. The DLC takes the form of episodes from the show, allowing you to play as several characters from the world of Alan Wake.
Originally set to launch earlier this year, Night Springs is one of two expansion packs Remedy announced for Alan Wake 2. And, considering it’s coming out much earlier than expected, you might want to prepare to spend the rest of your weekend with Night Springs.
