Alan Wake 2the sequel to a game that many thought they would never get, is apparently Remedy Entertainment’s fastest-selling game to date.

Remedy seems to have been quite successful in making a name for itself – while the developer has been around for a while, the success it’s enjoying now is definitely down to Control. Now, as announced by the developer itself, Alan Wake 2 appears to be more popular than Control, with the 2023 sequel having sold 1.3 million copies as of this month, making it the fastest-selling Remedy game to date. Remedy noted in its announcement: “In comparison, Alan Wake 2’s sales in its first two months were more than 50% higher than Control’s sales in its first four months, and digital sales were higher. Three times more.”

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said in a statement: “We are delighted that Alan Wake 2 has started selling. The price point has also remained high, and the game has already recouped a significant portion of its development and marketing expenses. That means, “Yes, Alan Wake 2 is selling well, but we’re not actually profitable yet.” But that’s okay, Virtala continued, “The successful launch of Alan Wake 2 supports our other games. Projects: Condor, Control 2, and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remastered have all accelerated development, thanks to Alan Wake 2’s release staff, and we expect these projects to enter the first half of 2024 The next stage of development.”

We’re currently waiting for more news on Alan Wake 2’s pair of DLC expansions, which were announced ahead of the game’s launch last year. Two parts of the DLC, “Night Springs” and “The Lake House,” are expected to be released sometime in 2024, although there is no release date yet.
