The list of bad alien games is long, but one of the best alien games ever is now getting a sequel and we can hardly wait.
Oh Alien… just as a number of horrors followed the first two films, the video game adaptations were also thoroughly mixed. With one exception, Alien: Isolation is considered the highlight of the Alien games and almost perfectly captured the claustrophobic horror of the first film in particular.
But that was a long time ago, exactly ten years ago. Creative Assembly’s game was released on October 7, 2014.
And now comes the surprise. Creative Director Al Hope of Creative Assembly has: reported on X/Twitter and has done nothing more and nothing less than confirming that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in development. Simply because he thinks that the tenth anniversary of the debut is the right time to make the announcement.
Well, and that’s it for information, because Hope didn’t comment on a name, possible platforms or even a release period. The only thing is that the game is still early in development and we will probably still have to wait a few years.
But at least now we know that Alien: Isolation isn’t a flash in the pan. We can only hope that the developers remain true to their old principles, namely to create the most authentic, captivating experience possible, which above all does justice to the start of the Alien series.
To be honest: we’re really up for it, because Alien: Isolation was simply a fantastic implementation, in complete contrast to the Gearbox cucumber Aliens: Colonial Marines.
