The first full trailer for Alien: Romulus has been released, and so far it looks like a strong return for the forty-five-year-old franchise.
Back in March, we got our first look at the upcoming sequel Alien: Romulus via a short trailer that didn’t really show us much. The vibe of the film looked strong, though, and thankfully, 20th Century Fox released the first full trailer for the film yesterday. How does it fare? Well, you can check out the trailer for yourself below, but if you ask me, it looks like a good, classic film about a poorly paid team doing a thankless job for 100 minutes or so while getting killed by a bunch of scary alien creatures. It may lean too heavily into the aesthetic of the original, but honestly, I’m happy to see a film with strong lighting.
The trailer of course has the classic iconic tagline “In space no one can hear you scream,” though it does cut out the word scre am at the end, instead going with a series of nearly silent shots of people screaming, with lights turned up throughout. I’m sure we’ll hear a lot of screaming in the final film, but it’s at least a well-made trailer.

Details on the film’s overall plot are still relatively scarce, with the trailer describing it like this: “While searching deep within an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life forms in the universe.” Fede Alvarez, best known for the 2013 remake of Evil Dead, is directing the film and also wrote the screenplay for the film.
You’ll have to wait a while to see the film, though, as it doesn’t hit theaters until August 16, but at least you can keep the trailer on loop in the meantime.
