Fans of the Aliens series may be able to look forward to new video game releases, as a leak suggests a shooter in the franchise could get a sequel.
The shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite was released in 2021 – and now there may soon be a sequel. At least that’s what a leak making the rounds on the internet suggests.
Screenshots of a document are circulating on Reddit and other social media platforms, which supposedly reveals details about a new alien shooter. If the information provided is correct, then a sequel to Aliens: Fireateam Elite would be released as planned in the third quarter of 2025.
Internally, the game is currently called “Project Macondo”. The development of the sequel primarily envisages the introduction of new game modes such as “Annihilation”; this is a kind of horde mode like you know from other shooters, in which you have to deal with huge numbers of Xenomorphs.
Otherwise, there are supposed to be other differences to the last Aliens: Fireteam Elite. The sequel is based on fixed character archetypes that cannot be further customized. Fireteam Elite had many more options, especially when it came to the use of weapons. In addition, the game will not use its own in-game voice chat, but will instead rely on the corresponding applications on the consoles themselves.
Also worth mentioning from the leaked document: The potential new aliens shooter will generally dispense with microtransactions, loot boxes or other such mechanics.
An official confirmation of the game is still pending, of course; until then, we should be cautious about whether the new shooter will actually be implemented as stated in the leaked document. We will of course keep you updated!
