After a complicated 2020, the Switch calendar is full again. To the joy of all, Nintendo has resumed the healthy habit of offering one exclusive release (minimum) every month, and despite the fact that – at first – the May title seems very simple, the premise of Mythopia is surreal and delusional in disproportionate proportions.
Originally released on Nintendo 3DS, Mythopia puts a total twist on the clichés of classic RPGs. First of all, because the protagonists will be created by us via the Miis editor, which opens up some crazy possibilities. But also because fun social elements have been integrated into the equation.
In fact, the personality that we breathe into our heroes – which we can base on acquaintances, relatives and famosetes or create completely original characters- reflected in conversations, the development of the adventure and the predisposition in the combats.
But the best thing is that, as you can see, we can shape the relationships of the characters themselves during the game.
Starting from the essentials, and like all RPGs, a group of brave heroes receives the call of duty in the face of a great threat: the faces of the kingdom of Miitopia have been stolen -literally- by a great archmage. Ahead, hilarious battles, treasures and good excuses to take a coffee between battle and battle.
A feat full of humor and clichés about adventure games that will require more than determination and a certain skill in battle: cementing the bonds of friendship will make all the difference and, in the process, will open up dialogue options between the heroes that will be the salt of the experience.
Because, although there is a class system that determines the role of each character (Warrior, Cleric, Wizard, Thief, Chef and Singer) the personality of each of our heroes will make them restless, more daring, less receptive when it comes to being cured or less willing to go into battle. We will even see how our own characters fight each other.
Miitopia: the return of the RPG with Nintendo social elements
As we commented, Mythopia It includes social elements, so that when we are not fighting we can forge friendships (and even cause misgivings) that will affect the statistics and predisposition of each hero in the different sections of the game. We can even give a little push when it comes to fostering relationships through extra activities.
Among the news you will receive Mythopia In Switch, compared to the 3DS version, we will find, in addition to the more than obvious visual push, a much more complete Mii character editor with new options, as well as a new type of ally: we can tame and integrate a horse into our game that will give a new layer of entertainment to the whole.
On the other hand, on Nintendo Switch we will continue to have the option to send and receive characters created by other players through the system of friends, passwords, the history of juice and even download popular Miis. Will we see any Nintendo personality among them? Don’t rule it out.
Mythopia will be available on Nintendo Switch from next May 21th, and it can now be booked both in physical form (with gift incentives in various stores) and in digital format through the eShop. Definitely, the RPG of the Mii not that acclaimed return to the classic style seen Bravely Default II or the promising Project TRIANGLE STRATEGY, but it takes fun as a flag and a more than palpable nintendero touch.
