Star Citizen is slowly but surely moving towards the Release of Alpha 3.9 to. The first players can already test them, the public version will follow in the near future. We explain to you what new features you can look forward to.
When does Alpha 3.9 come? There is no exact release date yet. Only a very small group of players called Evocati currently have access to the latest version of Star Citizen. Before the patch goes live, they can test even more users in so-called PTU waves. Only then does the public release follow.
That's in Star Citizen Alpha 3.9
- New Babbage: You will be able to enter New Babbage on microTech. These include the spaceport and the city with its shops and apartments.
- Moons: You can fly and explore the moons Calliope, Clio and Euterpe from microTech.
- Jail: The Klescher Automated Prison on the moon Aberdeen by Hurston is inserted. Along with that, there will be the long-announced prison gameplay.
- Survival mechanics: You will have to eat, drink and watch your body temperature in the future.
- New equipment: In addition to the prison uniform, there will be the typical microTech clothing and new helmets.
- New missions: For example, some new tasks will take you aboard a Caterpillar, on which you have to free prisoners. There are also other bounty missions.
- Weapon modding: You can add mods to your weapons without having to go into inventory. The feature is reminiscent of Crysis.
- New spaceship: With the Esperia Prowler there is a new ship that is designed for the transport of troops.
- Fragile goods: Certain items that you can collect lose value over time and can be damaged or even explode if attacked.
- AI improvements: NPC pilots should be given the opportunity to fly in the atmosphere of the planets and should also be more skilled in evading objects in space.
- Revised friend lists: The game's friend lists should be unified. This makes it easier to create a group.
- Better performance: There are some technical improvements that should increase the frame rate on all systems.
A feature comes a little later: The developer is currently working on a rework of the restricted areas. Thanks to this, the limitations within the game world should feel more natural. This was originally planned for Alpha 3.9, but is now being moved to Alpha 4.0, which will be released three months later. The team had previously postponed the planned Idris mission.

It wasn't until March 2020 that the team announced that they had overturned the entire roadmap. Now you're looking for a new way to represent progress to the public.
The development of Chris Roberts' megaproject is therefore progressing steadily. Our editor Peter Bathge also believes that the finished game slowly but surely is becoming a reality. How the Citizencon 2019 consolidated his opinion, he explains in a plus column.
