The Google event is over and we are taking many new impressions with us. With the clock, however, Google is holding back a bit with regard to the hardware specifications and would like to shine above all on the software side.
As you might expect, FitBit is part of the new smartwatch. Because the company has been part of Google since 2019. Accordingly, Google also offers you FitBit Premium.
Aside from the paid services, the watch also offers other health features that are part of the standard repertoire of a smart wristwatch in 2022. We’ll show you what the Pixel Watch is capable of, at least on paper.

This is the Google Pixel Watch
There were few rumors about the design in advance. This was simply because the manufacturer disclosed everything about the watch itself in advance. Nevertheless, we can now give you the exact data of the new smartwatch with certainty.
You can purchase the new wearable in three colors:
- Matte Black (Schwarz)
- Champagne Gold (Gold)
- Polished Silver (Silber)
The case consists of 80 percent recycled stainless steel and has a diameter of 41 millimeters and a height of around 12 millimeters. The gadget weighs a total of 36 grams without the bracelet.
As usual, you can either use the watch in WLAN mode (WLAN 802.11 2.4 GHz) together with your Android cell phone (Android 8.0 or higher) or optionally use the 4G or LTE model – at an additional cost, of course. Additional connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and NFC.
Back to the Pixel Watch display: Google installs an AMOLED display made of special 3D Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a resolution of 320 ppi and covers the DCI-P3 color space. Overall, the display should have a diameter of 41 millimeters and be up to 1000 nits bright. An always-on function is on board.
If you want to wear the watch permanently, the battery life will be important for you. On paper, the everyday companion has a 294 mAh battery that should last up to 24 hours, depending on your actual use.
Charging is via a magnetic USB-C cable and the smartwatch is said to be half charged in 30 minutes – it takes 80 minutes to reach 100 percent.
What’s inside the Google Pixel Watch? The manufacturer installs the Exynos 9110 SoC as the chip and WearOS 3.5 is used as the operating system. As briefly mentioned above, the watch is compatible with Android 8.0 and up.
You have 32 GB of memory available for offline files and 2 GB of SDRAM. The sensors should be of particular interest to athletes. In addition to an optical heart rate sensor, the watch also has an oxygen saturation meter, an altimeter and a compass. The accident detection, similar to Apple, should be integrated in the winter of this year.
It is important to mention at this point the water resistance, which is only available to a small extent. The watch from Google offers a water resistance of 5 ATM under the ISO standard 22810:2010 and is therefore not waterproof. The watch should therefore not be worn for swimming.
Fitbit plays a bigger role
As assumed by Google, the software also plays a major role in the Pixel Watch. The manufacturer uses FitBit’s health features internally and also offers their optional premium subscription.
Apart from that, you can look forward to the numerous features of Fitbit. In addition to activity recording with numerous modes and setting options, this includes heart health with a suitable ECG app and real-time heart rate measurement. In addition, the FitBit app offers a stress measurement and a detailed sleep analysis. However, as mentioned above, some of these features can only be found in the premium app.
What are the prices of the watch?? The smartwatch starts at 379 dollars in the Bluetooth/WLAN version. If you want to be reachable on the go without a smartphone, you can get the 4G/LTE version for a whopping 429 dollars. The smartwatch can be pre-ordered now, so you can hold it in your hands in time for the October 13 release.
In addition to the first smartwatch from Google, the new Pixel 7 smartphones were finally unveiled. Especially with the camera, the manufacturer would like to go a step further.
