In the last hours Microsoft has issued its Xbox Games Showcase 2023, which has allowed us to get an idea of the such a hopeful future that awaits Xbox consoles thanks to the titles being developed by the different teams at Xbox Game Studios. Thus we were able to see new previews of Fable, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Forza Motorsport or the expected Starfield.
A conference that was generally very good, although the release date of a large part of the games shown is still up in the air. However, another detail that must be highlighted from this event is that we have kept the want to know more about other Microsoft projects that were not present during the conference.
What’s more, some of these future titles are highly anticipated, so it’s a bit strange that they didn’t surface at all.
Age of Empires IV
- developer: World’s Edge
The PC version of Age of Empires IV went on sale almost two years ago and in principle it is supposed that this year it will reach Xbox Series X/S with all the updates and news that it has been receiving so far. It was said that it would head to the consoles in 2023 and here we are still waiting.
Age of Empires Mobile
- developer: World’s Edge
Another installment of the acclaimed strategy saga that is underway is Age of Empires Mobile. A short teaser of this adaptation was published months ago for mobile devices and since then it has been completely missing, hence the details about what it will be like are rather scarce.
Age of Mythology: Retold
- developer: World’s Edge
As they say, there are not two without three, so another of the chapters of the franchise that was not seen at any time was Age of Mythology: Retold. In this spin-off
Everwild
In 2019 it was when Rare announced that it was developing a new IP called Everwild, a beautiful proposal that undoubtedly won us over quickly for its fantasy world. However, the years have gone by and the news about its state are scarce, so we are not very clear about how its development is progressing.
Indiana Jones
- developer: MachineGames
When it was announced at the beginning of 2021 that MachineGames was going to take over the development of an Indiana Jones video game, it made us jump out of our chairs for this tremendous bombshell. The creators of Wolfenstein are behind all this, although after two years we have not heard from this title, which was said to be an independent and original story.
Perfect Dark
- developer: The Initiative
Perfect Dark, originally developed by Rare, was reported three years ago to be taken over by The Initiative with a reboot of the saga. Unfortunately, it is another of the games whose status is a mystery after so long and a proper trailer has not yet been shown that allows us to get a slight idea of what Joanna Dark’s return will be like.
State of Decay 3
- developer: Undead Labs
Another game that was announced three years ago was State of Decay 3, the new installment of the Undead Labs saga. There are not a few who had in their pools that yesterday we were going to have news of their state, but we have no choice but to stay waiting to find out one day that we will meet in this post-apocalyptic world populated by hordes of zombies.
The Elder Scrolls VI
It is clear that all of Bethesda’s efforts go through polishing as much as possible Starfield to make the space adventure outstanding. Even so, there is a desire to have news of The Elder Scrolls VI, even if it is a bit, because since it was introduced in 2018 It has remained a bit in limbo and there is already a desire to enjoy the next chapter of the franchise.
The Outer Worlds 2
- developer: Obsidian Entertainment
It was precisely at the Microsoft E3 2021 conference when The Outer Worlds 2 was announced, at which time it was announced that this continuation would retain its peculiar humor in a new space odyssey in which we would embark. Despite this, after a couple of years, its strengths are still in the air and we do not know when Obsidian will offer us a new preview.
Other games coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one
In addition to all the games indicated above, there are many others that years ago have also had an important presence in one of the Microsoft conferences and it has even been confirmed that will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one that are put up for sale.
ARK 2
- developer: Studio Wildcard
In April it was reported that the development of ARK 2 needed a little more time, so it was dropped that it was delayed until 2024 in order to further improve its graphic quality by making use of Unreal Engine 5. We will have to wait to hear about when we will come back to this world inhabited by dinosaurs that will test our ability to survive.
Contraband
- developer: Avalanche Studios
As happened to the work of Obsidian Entertainment, at E3 2021 it was also announced Contraband at the Microsoft conference and that was practically the only time we’ve heard anything about this project. In it we will get fully into an open world with a large cooperative component and in which we will act as drug traffickers.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
- developer: Team Cherry
One of the biggest memes on the entire internet is that Hollow Knight: Silksong is absent from the conferences that are taking place. With each new one from Nintendo, the game is expected to be present, as happened yesterday with the one from Microsoft, but nothing. The unknown of when it will arrive This long-awaited sequel has not been resolved and it seems that it will not be something that will happen in the short term.
Lightyear Frontier
- developer: Frame Break
Months ago we had the opportunity to see a full preview of Lightyear Frontier. A priori it may not be a game as striking as the previous ones, but if all goes well, this kind of simulator in which we will dedicate ourselves to create an interstellar farm on an alien planet.
Proyecto de Hideo Kojima
- developer: Kojima Productions
At the Xbox Games Showcase last year Hideo Kojima He made a very brief appearance to drop a bombshell, because at that moment he confessed that he had joined Xbox Game Studios to work on something completely new and never seen before. This year he has dropped another bombshell, but this time with smoke, because the Japanese creative hasn’t seen his hair, so we still don’t know what he’s up to.
Replaced
- developer: Sad Cat Studios
Another title that also appeared for the first time at Microsoft’s E3 2021 conference was Replaced, an indie that instantly caught our attention for its wonderful pixel-art aesthetics with 2.5D graphics. A retro-futuristic action-platform adventure in which an artificial intelligence is trapped in the body of a human against his will.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
- developer: GSC Game World
Finally, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is not going through a good moment after the GSC Game World team was hacked days ago and game files were stolen. Perhaps that may have influenced the fact that he did not show signs of life at the Microsoft conference, although shouldn’t have too much left to be finishedsince it has been in development since 2018.
