Rumors have surfaced from time to time that Nvidia is planning an even faster GPU model than the RTX 4090 within the Ada Lovelace generation. Several leakers who were considered reliable gave technical data for a potential RTX 4090 Ti, and the supposed cooler was also sold in an auction (via Videocardz) offered for sale.
However, this RTX 4090 Ti was never actually released. About a week ago, photos appeared on the Nvidia subreddit that were supposed to show the supposed prototype of the monster GPU, before the post was temporarily removed. Now user “This_Explanation_514” is back with new photos that are supposed to prove the authenticity of the prototype – and explains the strange location.

At least visually, the GPU shown is very close to the imagined RTX 4090 Ti, which was seen in several rumors with a quad-slot cooler.
The design is also closely based on the well-known Founders Editions of Nvidia GPUs, although this would be comparatively easy to fake.

Game Graphics 2025: Why the coming year will blow us away
Much more interesting at this point is the picture of the PCB that the Reddit user uploaded to the alleged prototype of the RTX 4090 Ti:
In the case of the alleged prototype, at least the visible part of the PCB, including the power supply and the actual graphics chip, is attached parallel to the mainboard.
Further images show that other modules are necessarily placed regularly orthogonally to the mainboard. These photos also match the cooler leaks already mentioned.
“This_Explanation_514” also mentioned the location hidden in a comment: According to user information, the prototype was discovered during a move in the electronic scrap recycling process.
It remains to be seen whether the graphics card is actually functional – with the originally assumed 900 watts of TDP, we can only hope that the Reddit user has a decent power supply for testing.
