As the first part of the Lego series, the title includes for the first time all nine episode films of the Star Wars universe: From Episode 4 – A New Hope to Episode 1 – The Dark Threat to Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker. And because these are quite a few films over a long period of time, a correspondingly large number of characters will be playable in them.

According to Craig Derrick, managing producer of Lucasfilm Games, Lego is said to be Star Wars: The Skywalkers Saga almost 500 different characters include, most of which will also be playable.

On the official Star Wars website, Craig Derrick, together with the Head of Production at TT Games Jonathan Smith, explained how the decision was made to include so many (playable) characters in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga:
"We (the developers) are all fans ourselves and there are not too few characters that we would all like to play. You cannot simply force us to choose a single favorite character! It is a fact that we have the entire team in Lego -Form together – from Admiral Ackbar to Zorii Bliss – what makes the game so special. "
"There are almost 500 characters in this game, almost everyone of whom is playable. When we selected the characters for a game of this size, we watched every movie and tried to say" yes! "As often as possible. ( …) Of course almost all of your favorite heroes and villains are playable, there are a lot of background characters, a few surprises and … Yaddle! "
If you have no idea who Yaddle should be: The Jedi Master appeared in the episodes The Dark Threat and Attack of the Clone Warriors as a member of the Council and belongs to the same unknown species as Yoda.
Many characters almost Lego tradition
However, fans should note: Even though Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will offer almost 500 playable characters, they should do not differ too much from one another playfully: Jedi and Sith, respectively, will be able to use lightsabers and the power, bounty hunters, stormtroopers and droid firearms – and so on.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 already offered almost 300 characters from comics and films from Marvel history, but these are stand out more visually and less playfully. However, that shouldn't stop fans from playing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker saga with their own personal favorites.
