In 2012, Wolfire Games – the creator of Humblebundle – released the shooter receiver as part of a seven-day challenge. The game impressed with a very realistic weapon representationwas forgotten shortly after the release. The team is now making a second attempt: Receiver 2 will be released on April 14.
Again, you will search an inanimate city here and defend yourself against enemy drones. The biggest challenge the operation of firearms
What makes Receiver so special?
The shooter's insider tip is characterized above all by its great depth of detail out. Not in terms of graphics, because it is rather functional, but in gameplay. Each part of the weapons is simulated based on their real models and so you have to deal with situations such as escapement and the like.
Reload with R? No way. You reload each weapon differently. For example, if you don't find any additional magazines for your Glock, you have to remove the existing one, press in new bullets, insert it back into the pistol and load it. A revolver, on the other hand, only fires when the bullet in the drum is also in the correct position. Otherwise, you often hear only a soft click instead of firing a shot.
What makes part 2 better? The developer explains that Receiver 2 mainly offers more content than its predecessor. In addition, this time really all the moving parts of a weapon are simulated, instead of just the majority as in the first part.
Even part 1 gets updates
Although Receiver was released in 2012, it is still being updated. The last patch was released in September 2019 and polished the engine. In addition to the graphics, the performance of the game was also polished up again.
Even if it would offer itself, neither Receiver nor Receiver 2 have VR support. So you have to rely entirely on your mouse and keyboard skills. If you want to try out the title immediately, you can still buy the first part for one euro until April 17, 2020. Receiver 2, however, has no price yet.
