According to leaks, a true classic will be dug out of the grave as part of the THQ Nordic showcase tonight. All signs point to a remake of Alone in the Dark.
A few years ago there were rumors about a remake of the classic Alone in the Dark from 1992 and now an announcement is apparently imminent. Initially, the first screenshots and a box art of the game appeared at a Belgian retailer, which was subsequently confirmed by the renowned insider AestheticGamer. The entry on the Belgian retailer’s website has already been removed, but not before the information has already circulated.
According to AestheticGamer it should be a remake of the first Alone in the Dark in the style of Resident Evil 2 under the motto “Southern Gothic meets Lovecraft”. The game’s story is said to be penned by the author of Soma and Amnesia: Dark Descent.
In a nutshell: In the deep south of the United States in 1920, Emily Hartwood’s uncle disappears. Accompanied by private detective Edward Carnby, she goes in search of him in the mansion of Derceto, a mental institution where something is lurking. There you will encounter strange residents, nightmarish kingdoms and dangerous monsters and uncover an evil conspiracy.
The current assumption is that the official announcement will be made during tonight’s THQ Nordic stream, which takes place at 9 p.m.
