He explained this to our colleagues from IGN together with the designer of Half-Life: Alyx Robin Walker in an interview. In it, the two not only talk about the past of Half-Life, but also the mistakes of Valve and the very ambitious future of the developer studio.
»We are closer to the matrix than people think«
Gabe sees Newell in the future of Valve Brain interfacesthat can also lead to a kind of interaction like in the matrix. At the moment he is always concerned with the topic when there are "no more important things to do".
He also sees this type of interface as one of the goals, the Valve within the next ten years want. According to him, we're technologically much closer to a system like the Matrix than most people think.
