With each release of the highly-anticipated role-playing games with character editor, the creativity of the players is expressed. Diablo 4 is no exception to the rules with pop culture heroes.
Diablo 4: a staging that has never existed for the license
As of June 6th, Diablo 4 is finally in everyone’s hands. All players could discover the game’s open world, its new Paragon board and its staging more than ever for the license. If this narrative stands out more than the previous works, it’s for a very simple reason: the immersion that Blizzard offers. At the start of a new game, players go through a character editor that they can customize to their liking. It is this character that can be found in the game’s cutscenes (see adjacent image).
For the editors of JV, such a decision by Blizzard is bold: the player character has a say in his place without being the focus of the story. The protagonists evolve around him, but not necessarily thanks to him. To illustrate the opposite, we know that Link has been mute since his first adventures: a decision justified by Nintendo to allow the player to immerse themselves in the role of the hero.
When the internet has fun with the character creator
However, immersion is only possible if you have the will to do so. And when players are given the opportunity to customize their character with a reasonably complete editor, it’s more common that they use their creativity to emulate personalities rather than shape a hero they care about. This is evidenced by the few creations observed on Reddit: Kratos from God of War, Musclor or Walter White from breaking Bad. Instead judge:

Unfortunately we only have the cosmetic aspect: a pity that these visual elements are not accompanied by a demonstration of their skills, since Diablo 4 can allow the role-playing game to be pushed even further. If it were obvious that Kratos and Musclor were siding with the barbarian, we might have seen Walter White more as a witch doctor. However, the class is not currently included in Diablo 4. Maybe in the Are the next expansions coming?
