Fans are disappointed. Although My Lady Jane delighted audiences with a Rotten Tomatoes Score by 95 percent, it will not get a second season.
Now none other than the author of Game of Thrones himself is commenting on the subject. George RR Martin openly admits that he is also a fan.
George RR Martin has always been fascinated by Jane Grey
The author draws attention to his blog It is clear that he finds it a great pity that My Lady Jane was cancelled.
He describes the series as »[…] a clever and original historical fantasy […]« and states that he was fascinated by the Nine Days Queen of England from an early age. She is called that because she actually only reigned for nine days before she was beheaded.
The series gave Jane Grey a new life that lasted longer than nine days, but now ends abruptly.
His personal connection to the series
George RR Martin is not only impressed by the subject matter of the series, but also by its production. Some time ago he worked with showrunner Meredith Glynn and praised her talent in his blog entry.
»Witty and original«he calls her work and immediately draws a parallel to the Hulu series The Great. In 2023, the series suffered a similar fate to My Lady Jane and was canceled after three seasons.
So it’s no wonder that the author believes that “Jane deserved more than nine days or eight episodes.”
At the end of his blog post, Martin links the Petition of the fans to save My Lady Jane and wishes them “good luck” in their endeavor.

The Amazon series is based on the novel of the same name in the six-part series The Lady Janies by authors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows.
Lady Jane Grey is forced into marriage with Lord Guildford Dudley. She is then crowned Queen of England and finds herself in danger when others try to challenge her for the crown.
And if you are now thinking: »That is all just like in the original story.« Then we can only say: not quite. Because My Lady Jane is a original adaptation of the story and has some twists and fairytale-like turns in store for you that are missing in the original.

Since June 27, 2024 you can immerse yourself in the world of My Lady Jane on Amazon Prime Video.
Even though My Lady Jane didn’t really last longer than nine days, there is of course a small chance that another streaming provider could pick up the series. Whether that will actually happen, however, is anyone’s guess.
