Director and executive producer Jonathan Nolan said the Fallout TV series, which will air on Amazon Prime Video in April, is about “what happens when you outsource human existence.”
This is just the latest little teaser Fallout fans have received about what they’ll see when the show releases in a few months, and it’s an interesting one considering we’ve had quite a few sneak peeks so far It will involve stories and costumes. For those more interested in how the show achieves atmospheric effects in depicting the Fallout universe, it seems like you’ll need to prepare yourself for a lot of satire based on our reality.

Nolan, who developed the series with Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy and showrunners Geneva Robertson-Deworet and Graham Wagner, revealed in an interview with Empire , the play is about: “What happens when you outsource human existence.” What does this mean? Well, there are a lot of comments about how life in the real world today is soul-destroying.
“Just as M*A*S*H talked about Vietnam through the lens of the Korean War,” Nolan explains, “we can also talk about the mess we’re in now through the lens of… ‘If every What if everyone just does this? Go ahead and destroy the fucking world?”
It’s definitely going to be interesting for the people behind the Fallout TV show, especially those who will be lending their directing talents to several of the episodes. The Fallout series has always had a lot of irony and commentary about the real-world fallout, but I think a lot of it was specifically about the American atomic age ethos, which was a large part of its inspiration. Another vision of the future.
We’ll have to see if the world of the series also lends itself to the dissection of our current times Nolan wants. It has the potential to do that, but hopefully without making this Fallout series feel too much like Westworld or HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us.
Interestingly, Graham Wagner also revealed in this interview that the motivations of the show’s three main characters – a vault dweller, a Brotherhood of Steel member, and a ghoulish ex-cowboy – are inspired by gold. Some inspiration was drawn from “The Daredevil”. They’re all obviously looking for something, so hopefully it’s not a family member (hello, Fallout 3 and 4).
A massive Fallout 4 mod, Fallout London, is set to launch shortly after the Fallout TV series, and we recently learned how it hopes to improve upon the original game’s functionality in certain areas.
