AMD: Extra for gamers: Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs are official

AMD only released the Ryzen 7000 CPUs in September 2022, and now three X3D models have been presented, processors that are explicitly aimed at gamers. The Intel Raptor Lake company wants to make life difficult with this and the technical data are promising.

Unsurprisingly, AMD brought the Ryzen 7000 X3D processors to CES 2023. As with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the key data is aimed entirely at gamers and should bring noticeable increases in performance. 64 MB 3D V-Cache, high clock rates and 120 watts TDP lead to a major attack on Intel Raptor Lake. AMD is currently planning three CPUs, which should already be on the market in February. However, the company did not have any prizes in its luggage for the event.

You may have noticed that the v-cache of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Ryzen 9 7900X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D has not changed compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. When it comes to turbo clock rates, however, you don’t have to accept any or hardly any losses compared to the X models. AMD specifies the Ryzen 9 7950X with up to 5.7 GHz, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D with up to 5.6 GHz. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D clocks up to a maximum of 5.0 GHz, the Ryzen 7 7700X to 5.4 GHz. AMD stated to Computerbase that the high clock rates of the Ryzen 9 can be explained by the fact that only one chiplet carries the cache module.

The other technical data of the processors:

  • Ryzen 9 7950X3D: 16 Kerne, 32 Threads, 4,2 GHz Basis-Takt, 144 MB Cache
  • Ryzen 9 7900X3D: 12 Kerne, 24 Threads, 4,4 GHz Basis-Takt, 140 MB Cache
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D: 8 Kerne, 16 Threads, 4,X GHz Basis-Takt, 104 MB Cache

Of course, AMD has also published the first benchmarks, which should of course be treated with caution. Manufacturers tend to exaggerate the numbers a bit, especially when the hardware is so aggressively promoted as “the ultimate hardware for gamers and creators”.

AMD also introduced the “Without X models” of the Ryzen 7000 series. The Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 7 7600 use the same technology as the X-CPU, but their clock speeds are lower. At 120 dollars (7900), 70 dollars (7700 and 7600) they are significantly cheaper.
