AMD is already working on the console chip

AMD, chip, Console, working

It’s official, the PS6 is already being prepared internally. The master builder responsible for the development has just openly published the piece in a job offer

If the PS5 is still one of the most desirable products in the world and the hardest to get hold of, Sony is already looking to the future. The Japanese company likely ordered the future chip that will power it from AMD. And it’s the California manufacturer announcing it.

Sony is already preparing for the arrival of the PS6

The PS6 is already in Sony’s boxes. While the PS5 is still hard to find and stocks are tight, the manufacturer is already looking ahead. And we are not talking about a possible PS5 Pro, but about a new generation console. AMD has actually posted a job offer to find a SoC verification engineer to work on the chip that will power the PS6.

The description mentions that the lucky winner will be part of the team that developed the SoCs for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. He will have to work on the development of new generation chips. In all honesty, AMD announces that it has started work on Ryzen chips that will power next-gen consoles, including the PS6. However, development appears to be just beginning and it will be a few years before the replacement for the PS5 arrives.

PS6 chip vacancy

However, this isn’t the first time the arrival of the PS6 has been teased. In October 2016, Sony filed trademark applications for PlayStation 6 through PS10 in Japan. A maneuver to which the Japanese company is accustomed, having done the same with the PS4 seven years before its release. Nevertheless, we should see the PS5 Pro land in the meantime, especially since the manufacturer would have sent development kits back in March.
