With the current generation of graphics cards, AMD first released the top models RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 and then gradually released graphics cards with less performance. For the next generation, Radeon RX 7000, AMD seems to be taking a different approach: According to rumors, the weaker cards will appear first.
First low, then high and finally mid-end
The latest reports are from Moores Law is Dead, whose YouTube channel mostly spreads leaks about graphics cards and processors. Accordingly, the RX-7000 graphics cards with the weakest performance appear first. These are the models based on the Navi 33 chip. They are expected to appear in the fourth quarter of this year
The low-end cards will follow in the fourth quarter, but the high-end models will follow a little later. These work with the Navi 31 chip and, according to Wccftech, include the RX 7900 series.

Why we can still hope for prices close to the RRP
After all, the middle class should not appear until next year, the release window indicates Moore’s Law Is Dead here with the first half of 2023. There also appear to be changes to AMD’s naming scheme. Because according to Wccftech, the RX-7800 series should no longer belong to the high-end but to the upper middle class. While the RX 6800 (XT) and RX 6900 XT are still based on the same chip in the form of Navi 21, the RX 7800 should use the Navi 32 instead of the Navi 31 chip.
Why the unusual release order?
The expected release dates could have something to do with the structure of the graphics cards. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, the new generation of low-end cards should use a classic monolithic design. This means that a chip is installed here, as was previously the case with graphics cards.
However, the high-end and mid-range models probably rely on a so-called multi-chiplet design. Here the card consists of several small chiplets, some of which have different tasks. There may simply be delays here, since the technology for graphics cards is still completely new. It is also conceivable that AMD will change the order so as not to get in its way with potential RX 6000 refreshes.
The performance was confirmed again
We already had some leaks about the performance of the upcoming RX 7000 cards. Moore’s Law Is Dead goes into it again in his latest video. Accordingly, the high-end model of the RX 7000 series will probably have a performance increase of 90 to 130 percent in rasterization compared to the RX 6900 XT, the current top model. The model should consume 375 to 450 watts.

Nvidia should be a decisive step ahead of AMD
The new generation low-end card aims to replace the high-end models of the old ones. That’s why we expect the RX 7000 card with Navi 33 chip to perform similarly to the RX 6900 XT, but with a lower power consumption. He did not want to comment on the performance of the mid-range cards because the release is still too far away.
Can you wait until next year for the new generation or are the mid-range cards from AMD’s latest generation of no interest to you anyway? Please let us know!
