Last week the first rumors emerged that AMD wanted to close the gap in the RDNA 3 portfolio between the RX 7600 and RX 7700 XT with a new GPU model.
This graphics card is said to be the RX 7600 XT, which according to the first leaks will come onto the market on January 24, 2024. In contrast to these initial reports, the upcoming entry-level graphics card from AMD is said to be a little more powerful than originally expected.
So far, two variations of the RX 7600 XT have been discovered, which rely on 10 and 12 GB of GDDR6 video memory.
A new entry on the website Eurasian Economic Commission EEC However, this aspect makes you sit up and take notice: AMD partner Gigabyte has listed two new custom GPUs that offer 16 GB of video memory for the RX 7600 XT.
The two models listed are each an OC and non-OC variant of the “Radeon RX 7600 XT Gaming 16G”, which means the XT version is compared to the regular RX 7600 with 8 GB of VRAM and the RX 7700 XT with 12 GB of VRAM would have an advantage.
The possible memory configuration becomes even more confusing with such a 16 GB configuration. This would make it possible, among other things, for AMD to use a 256-bit interface in the case of a Navi 32 chip; In addition, the full 16 PCIe lanes can be used.
However, the argument against this is that such a configuration would stand in the way of the in-house RX 7700 XT with 12 GB and 192-bit connection.
On the other hand, at least in terms of memory, this would clearly set you apart from the Nvidia competition, which in the “entry-level segment” of the RTX 4060 Ti also has 16 GB of VRAM, but only has a 192-bit connection.
Especially since the question of the price-performance ratio continues to be raised here: While the Nvidia card mentioned came onto the market with an RRP of 549 dollars, AMD could be a sign of the future with a recommended price below the 400 dollars limit graphics card market becoming more expensive.
We’ll probably find out what the RX 7600 XT will look like at the end of the day on January 22nd – the official presentation of the new AMD GPU should take place on this date. Before that, however, it’s Nvidia’s turn, which will be present at CES 2024 with a super refresh:
Now we need your opinion: Can AMD set itself apart from the competition in the GPU market with an RX 7600 XT with 16 GB of video memory and 256-bit interface? Would such a graphics card for 400 dollars be an attractive solution or does AMD have to create an even greater price difference to Nvidia? Let us know in the comments!
