Frictional Games, the studio behind the Amnesia series and Soma, announced Amnesia: The Bunkerthe newest install in the franchise.
The developers called the game a “pivotal point” in the horror franchise due to player freedom affecting gameplay. For the first time in the series, you can choose your playstyle as you explore the semi-open world.
There are hardly any scripted events, and constant tension from ever-present threats, depending on how you manage your survival.
Unlike other entries in the series, this game combines survival horror elements and adventure with emergent and sandbox gameplay, giving you complete control over instant decision-making.
Armed only with a revolver and a loud dynamo flashlight, you’ll walk around a dimly lit WWI bunker like a French soldier suffering from amnesia and “hunted by alien creatures” .
The game promises to test your ingenuity, grit, and ability to stay calm under pressure as you attempt to make quick, problem-solving decisions. Every mission, puzzle and obstacle course has multiple solutions.
You’ll need to use your wits and the tools at your disposal to overcome the horrors that await you, knowing that every decision has consequences and will change how the game responds. Additionally, new strategic paths are created with each level pass.
Dark, shadowy hallways and tunnels are probably the least of your threats, as something tracks your every move. It’s up to you to get out alive.
Here is a brief overview of the game’s features:
- Player’s Choice – Emergency Gameplay in a Sandbox Horror Survival Experience
- Unscripted environment – objects, threats, and resources that change every game
- Adaptive Terrorist Threat – An ever-present, terrifying creature that stalks the player.
- Haptic Immersion – New interaction with the world through puzzle solving and tool handling
