A sneak peek of Skydance New Media’s upcoming Marvel game will be showcased at today’s D23 Expo, with games rumored to star Captain America and Black Panther led by Amy Hennig.
Said to be set during World War II, the game will see the two based on Hydra MCU status. Eurogamer said it understood the rumor was true.
The project was announced in October, with Hennig and EA vet Julian Beak at the helm. Theo two has launched a new studio within Sky Media to work on new Marvel titles.
The title is said to be a AAA narrative-driven action-adventure game with a completely original story and featuring the Marvel Universe.
Hennig and Beak enlisted a variety of developers with decades of experience in action and adventure games to develop the game. The studio also works with a team of creative consultants from the film, television and comics worlds.
Known for her role as the former creative director of the Uncharted series, Hennig joined Skydance Media in 2019 with Beak, whose credits include Battlefield: Tough and Need for Speed. The two had previously worked together on the cancelled Star Wars game by Visceral Games.
Hennig and Beak’s game is just the latest mainline game in the Marvel Universe. In 2020, Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales hit theaters, while Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters in 2021.
In 2023, the delayed Marvel Midnight Sun is expected to appear alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Another game in production but with no release date is Marvel’s Wolverine.
