James Cameron has been in excess since the beginning of his flagship franchise. But with Avatar 3, the filmmaker could go even further and achieve an unprecedented feat.
With Avatar 2: The WaterwayJames Cameron (Abyss, terminator, titanic…) foiled the predictions of the defeatists. From the first days the film was a monumental success that never faltered from week to week. And thanks to that we will have Avatar 3 and its three other sequels.
Take your precautions, Avatar 3 will have you glued to the couch
avatar 3 is expected in theaters on December 18, 2024, but the commercial machine is already busy with information distilled by James Cameron and producer Jon Landau. A feature film that was yet to go completely insane with the introduction of new biomes and tribes.
But James Cameron was able to cross all borders with an unimaginable duration. According to journalist Jeff Sneider, WHO has already proved reliable, the director might have done an assembly of … 9 hours! A project that would be destined to become a Disney+ series.
RUMOR: Remember that 9 hour cut I told you about where James Cameron insisted the visual effects be done? I’ve heard that this version might come to Disney Plus as a limited series after the Bergkino hits theaters.
Over Twitter.
For comparison: The Lord of the Rings lasts 11:55 in the long version, but it is a trilogy. For a single film, the record is held by Bernardo Bertolucci until 1990, with a duration of about 5h30.
A note on the sequels
In an interview, James Cameron spoke about the diversity that Pandora offers. Even if the fifth part could take place somewhere else… the director argues that it can stay on this planet while incorporating completely different biomes than in the first two films.
Everything we have to say and see is on Pandora. I don’t have to travel to other planets to tell this story. You can go to desert, mountain, boreal forest, temperate forest and not just tropical. We can go to the polar region. We’ll see a lot – including the different ways these films adapt to different cultures.
We will see the land with Avatar 3, but also get to know the new tribe of “People of Ashes”:
Fire is represented by the “Ash People”. I want to show the Na’vis from a different angle because at the moment I’ve only shown their good sides. In the early films there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3 we do the opposite. We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters.
And then it’s the turn of Avatar 4, which has already begun film. The reason for this is that there will be a jump in time after the first act. As a result, James Cameron had to wrap up the scenes with the kids he grew up with (via CineSeries).
