This Metal Gear Solid project, which has been in the works for 10 years, finally brings unexpected signs of life after several years without any news.

While fans wait for the remake of the third installment in the near future, they may also have reason to look out for the long-awaited film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. This time, it was its executive producer who took it out of the box that was starting to collect dust.

The first time we heard about a film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid was in 2014. As director, we found Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island). Oscar Isaac (Star Wars Postlogy, Moon Knight) was supposed to play Solid Snake on the big screen. In 2022, he teased fans like this: “We want the film to succeed, you have reason to look forward to it!” However, it is no longer clear whether the actor will play this iconic video game character or not.

So it seems like the Metal Gear Solid movie is moving forward at its own pace, like a snake crawling on the ground. It now remains to be seen if it will hit when (if?) it comes out. Until then, there are more big screen adaptations of iconic video game licenses to look forward to. Notably, we have a Street Fighter movie and Super Mario Bros. 2, expected in 2026 and April 2026 respectively.
