A highly anticipated game that is barely coming to Xbox Series. There are obviously very big problems and things are going through the roof. Very bad news for the studio but also for the players waiting for it.
Big games are not exactly legion on the Xbox team. After firing its big guns in 2023 with Starfield or even Hellblade 2 and Redfall (although we know its sad fate), the green house doesn’t have much left to do. It then draws on its recent acquisitions and will soon release a certain Call of Duty Black Ops 6, one of the biggest releases of the future. For the rest, it relies on third parties from all walks of life. Well, partly, because of course at Microsoft we like to take our time, so much so that a game has simply announced its delay and we have no idea when it will arrive on Xbox Series.
A Souls Like is in the pipeline, its release on the Xbox Series is threatened
It’s a Souls-like whose first attempts had rather convinced fans of the genre without exceeding them. Enotria: The Last Song will be released on September 19 for PC and PS5. Initially, as you understood, it was also supposed to be released on Xbox Series, but ultimately that will not be possible. Although the game is somewhat divided overall, it is highly anticipated, at least by the curious who did not fail to make their voices heard after this news. Fans are obviously disappointed by this decision of the studio, but it is not even their fault.
In a press release, the developers state that they are ready to release the game on PS5 and PC, and are even more excited to soon offer a physical edition for PS5. Unfortunately, they also announce that, despite the efforts of all the teams, the Xbox version is currently on hold. As a reminder, Enotria is an independent game from a small, self-published Italian studio, so the risk appetite is maximum.
It’s…Microsoft’s fault!
In the Insider Gaming columns, the CEO of the studio Jyamma Games commented on the situation. He explains that the studio encountered a problem when creating the game’s page on the Xbox Store. A technical problem that Microsoft support seems to be slow to get to grips with. The process has dragged on for several months and communication is obviously very difficult. However, Enotria: The Last Song runs like a charm on the Xbox Series. The CEO even admitted that the Series S version is in the lead. In this case, it is Microsoft that is lagging behind, despite the relaunches of the small studio. I hope for them and the players that the situation is resolved quickly.
