Thanks to Two Point Studios we were able to revive the greatness of the legendary Theme Hospital a few years ago with the launch of Two Point Hospital, a spiritual successor that completely conquered us and that ended up becoming a great hospital management game. Now its creators have returned to the fray with a new proposal from Two Point Campus.

It is clear that it is the same company that is behind both projects and that it is one of those games with which the hours easily fly by. With the first impressions it already caused me that feeling and it is something that I have been able to fully reaffirm after having dedicated a good handful of dozens of hours to it.

Therefore, the time has come to give way to the final verdict of what has undoubtedly become one of the titles with which the last few weeks have been even more entertaining. But to what extent has this new installment improved over its predecessor?

The director of our own university

The best way to define Two Point Campus is that it is practically the same as what we saw in Two Point Hospitalwith the difference that at that time we ran hospitals and now it will be our turn take full charge of the management of some universities. Of course, do not think that they will have that touch as serious and formal as those of reality, because here it is totally the opposite.

More than anything because if there is something that characterizes this series, it is the sense of humor that it constantly gives off, which undoubtedly makes it even more fun to manage each and every one of the details of our own campus to make it the best it can be. . We will soon discover the same thing as soon as the crazy subjects that we will have at our disposal begin to be taught.

To give you a better idea, here are not the typical courses that we can find in most universities. Instead they have been replaced by courses in chivalry, sorcery, spies, archeology and even cooking classes can be taught with huge saucepans in which you can cook dishes that would serve to feed dozens of people.

In turn, this influences the type of students that will arrive at our facilities, which undoubtedly also gives it another funny point. For example, chivalry students will be equipped with medieval armor, sorcery students will wear tunics, spies will wear suits and there will even be some who have their faces painted like a clown in case we want to turn any course into a kind of comedy club.

The variety of courses that can be taught is wide enough so that we do not have the feeling that all the levels of the game are identical or that we are doing the same thing over and over again. In fact, something that also influences this aspect is the challenges, since each phase will have its own with which we will get stars, up to a maximum of three when our installation is simply perfect.

Even so, the path to that moment is not a matter of a few minutes or a couple of hours, since you can easily spend between eight and ten hours at the same level until you achieve three stars. On the other hand, the challenges will not stop changing, sometimes forcing us to make an effort to improve the environment, that the students achieve a certain score in their grades or obtain a good sum of money, to name a few examples.

Precisely these challenges They are the ones that give a certain difficulty to the game., because some of the objectives are somewhat complicated to carry out and will require us to do our best to achieve them. What’s more, it could be said that thanks to them we find ourselves with the real challenge of the game, because the truth is that advancing through the levels is somewhat simple.

Above all, this is something that will be appreciated by those who have played similar titles or Two Point Hospital, to whom everything they encounter will be very familiar. For this reason, the first two universities that do the tutorial function may not be entertaining enough compared to the rest, but in general terms the difficulty of the game has been reduced if we compare it with that of the previous installment.

There was only one level that was a bit difficult for me at first because I didn’t manage the needs that were asked of me well, but the truth is that As soon as you have a university on the right track, it is practically impossible for the situation to get out of control and everything goes to waste. So, I have to emphasize again that what really matters (and costs) is to meet the challenges that the universities establish.

A classroom here, a library there and don’t miss a good party

Each of the universities has its own theme. Although we can choose over time which classes will be taught, there are some basic ones that will dominate certain campuses. In any case, there are also certain basic concepts that will not be missing every time we start our journey in a new university.

You start by building classrooms and from there you go to residences, libraries, bathrooms, places to rest and of course you also have to be aware of hiring teachers, assistants and porters who are in charge of cleaning the dirt or fixing everything that breaks. As you go, more subjects, rooms and objects will be unlocked, so there will always be an excuse to return to certain past levels.

However, not everything is summed up in placing rooms, articles and offering jobs, because you also have to remain attentive to the happiness and needs of the students themselves. This will serve to give us a certain score that will influence their studies and the grades they get and that they will pay more for rent and enrollment. On the other hand, if they are not happy, then they will refuse to pay and even decide to leave the campus.

Luckily, there are ways to avoid going to those extremes, whether it’s with private lessons, curing illnesses, or having support talks given. To all this it will be added that it is necessary to try to maintain a good atmosphere in the facilitiesthat everything looks charming, spectacular and closely monitor who comes, because it may happen that students from other campuses invade us wanting to make a mess of it.

In the middle of all this, teachers will also have to be improved and trained to learn other subjects or choose to optimize their behavior to improve morale and performance, while in the case of students we can have them organize parties, attend to movie sessions or even have relationships with each other. Anything to make college a place everyone would love to go.

Each school year will advance without stopping and each month the time will come to charge, being able to increase the speed or even pause it if we find ourselves in the need to change any detail without affecting time. Starting from this basis, you will never stop doing things because requests will constantly arrive of students or teachers so that we place objects or with problems that arise and we must attend to them.

The only time that is truly restful is when summer and vacations arrive, since in that case we will have all the time in the world to build more classrooms, hire employees and place whatever is needed. These are details that cannot be overlooked because thanks to them the buildings or the esplanades will level up and with it the happiness of the students.

The charm that campuses give off

Something that I loved about Two Point Campus It is its nice visual section that gives it a friendly and familiar aspect so that anyone can get in front of the screen to play and have a great time. Likewise, the behavior of the students is hilarious many times thanks to the crazy courses to choose from.

Not only because of the clothing of each one, as I have previously mentioned, but also because there will be some who are authentic brainiacs or goths, something that is clearly obvious from their appearance and behavior. In addition, the objects to be placed everywhere are not far behind, because there will be arcade machines, clubs to join, swimming pools, fountains in the form of bathtubs and more elements to customize the stage at will to make it unique.

I also have to thank the performance seemed excellent. I have tried it on two different computers, one more powerful than the other, and at no time have I had any problems or observed visual glitches and I have not suffered slowdowns of any kind, so the title is perfectly well optimized.

With regard to the sound section, at all times we will be accompanied by some melodies that fit very well with the theme, although what deserves applause are the messages that will be heard through the radio, with the hilarious jokes that they will release and that without a doubt It would have been appreciated if they had been dubbed into Spanish. At least it has a translation that must be set from the options, since it is not activated by default.

I have to say that I have never liked universities and that it is a pity that in reality there are no ones like the ones in Two Point Campus, because that would have encouraged me to go to any of them in which fun is more than guaranteed from start to finish. Perhaps the first bars can be a bit boring, but from the third level the good stuff really begins.

Challenges help considerably extend the duration of the game, to think of new ways to play and manage all aspects. However, for the most veterans, the news may be enough, which does not mean that it is a great game with which you will be well entertained for tens of hours. Two Point Studios has already achieved this with hospitals and now with universities. What will be next?
