Android 12 is apparently getting a popular Windows 10 feature. This prevents accidental deletion of files, but also takes up a lot of storage space.

Android 12 is supposed to be one "Garbage can" for apps and files.

  • Google could buy Android 12 a “trash can”.
  • This should offer the same functionality as the recycle bin of Windows 10 or macOS.
  • The first beta should appear in May.

Already with Android 11 has the US company Google added an interface for developers with which files on the Smartphone removed, but not completely deleted. So far, however, the user has not had access to the function for restoring data.

Like the tech blog XDA Developers reported, this should deal with Android 12

to change. The cell phone operating system is said to be similar to a recycle bin Windows 10 or macOS receive.

So you can remove apps or files, they are not completely deleted. The data is retained in the recycle bin for a certain period of time and can be restored. The files are only permanently deleted when the period has expired or you empty the recycle bin yourself.

Advantages and disadvantages

This prevents files from being accidentally deleted, but at the same time the recycle bin would also take up a certain amount of storage space on your mobile phone. Regular emptying is therefore particularly appropriate for inexpensive devices with little memory.

A first beta should appear in May, and you may then be able to catch a glimpse of the new features. The final version is expected in autumn 2021.
