Fans are eagerly awaiting Android 15. The next major OS update for phones from Samsung, Xiaomi and Co. is practically ready. But now Google has surprised everyone with a announcement.

Android 15 already achieved platform stability in June. Google has thus practically completed the development of the update for mobile phones from Samsung, Xiaomi and Co. Fans therefore assumed that the company would present the new mobile OS together with its new top smartphones Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Fold. But far from it!
At its MadebyGoogle event on August 13, Google announced that the new Pixel phones will initially run on Android 14. Android 15 is still a long way off. When Google will release the new mobile OS is something we can only speculate about. The update posted on the Android developer blog published schedule does not contain an exact release date, but only indicates that the release is conceivable from the end of July.

We assume that the release will take place in the fall, i.e. in September or October. This would give Google time to test the OS thoroughly and fix minor bugs before distribution.
In addition, Google is giving manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi more time to adapt Android 15 for their devices. Samsung and Xiaomi use the Google OS on their devices but traditionally adapt it heavily.
