Animal Crossing: According to reports, before the official announcement, the New Horizon monopoly board appeared in American stores. Now, there is still no official announcement, Entertainment Earth has begun pre-ordering Animal Crossing: New Horizons Monopoly Games on its website. Older “Animal Crossing Friends” fans have already joked about Tom Nook’s capitalist tendencies, so it’s no surprise that this eventually happened. However, this version does not actually involve the construction of rows of villagers’ houses. The Animal Crossing board game is not about making friends bankrupt hotels and utilities, but focusing on calculating Nook Miles similar to players in video games.
This custom board based on Nintendo’s best-selling simulation game includes four villager tokens, cards and bells based on in-game events, rather than typical Monopoly coins. Players can also get collectible tokens for fruits, fossils, fish and bugs, and they can put items in their pockets as they did in the original game.
Entertainment Earth listed the estimated shipping date of the “Animal Crossing” board game as August 2021. However, the disclaimer in the description emphasizes that shipping estimates may change and buyers will not be charged before shipment. It is not clear how many brick-and-mortar retailers sell Animal Crossing Monopoly games in the United States. According to Kotaku, before the news of the game appeared overseas, European websites could already book the ACNH Monopoly game.
This is not Hasbro’s first video game-related project, and it may not be the last. The company has produced special editions of Monopoly based on video games such as Super Mario, Pac-Man and Fallout in the past. Hasbro even created a separate Pokemon Master Trainer board game that revolves around capturing and evolving Pokemon.
