The publisher revealed at the Annapurna Interactive Showcase last night (June 29) that there are plenty of new games and updates to old ones to show off. However, one of the highlights of the show was the surprise reveal of the new game Blade Runner 2033: The Labyrinth.

In a short but punchy cinematic trailer for the game, we take on the role of a mysterious, unnamed Blade Runner who is exploring an area known as the “Field of the Dead.” Beyond that, we didn’t reveal much else, but the trailer does capture the same vibe we’ve seen in Blade Runner and the Blade Runner 2049 films. Please see above.

Considering the movies, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth seems like a classic, taking place between the events of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner in 1982 and its 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049. . We know the game is set to black out after these events, with its Steam page asking “What does Blade Runner do when there are no clones to hunt?”

I’m not sure, but I’m sure we’ll hear more details soon. All in all, I’m personally excited to see more love and attention for the Blade Runner series; it’s a universe I’ve always wanted to see expanded and further explored. Another interesting aspect of Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth is that it’s being developed by Annapurna Interactive itself, a company that has only published games so far. This marks a first for Annapurna’s in-house studio, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it comes up with; hopefully we’ll embark on a sci-fi noir adventure, just like the movie.

Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will launch on both PC and consoles, but it’s unclear when we’ll get our hands on the game. I’ll keep an eye on this, that’s for sure, but what do you think?
