Season 4 is heading towards its destination port this week, bringing the last major DLC for Anno 1800. Not just of the year, but of all. Because, as Ubisoft Mainz has now announced, there will actually be no 5th season for the development game.
However, it should still continue on a smaller scale – before a successor slowly knocks on the door. Here you can find out what the future of Anno 1800 and the series will bring.
No Season 5, but new DLCs
We’ve been speculating for a long time about whether Anno 1800 will dare a fifth season or not. We discussed what the arguments for and against would be in the podcast with Writing Bull. Now it’s official: There will be no further Season Pass in 2023. However, Anno 1800 does not lie completely idle, because the team is planning even more cosmetic DLCs

It’s in the Dragon Garden DLC
Asia has long been considered an exciting possibility for another playable colony region. But that will never happen now. However, the team promises at least a little Southeast flair for your island cities. With the help of the Dragon Garden DLC, there are lots of ornaments that have Far Eastern cosmetics ready for your city. It is not yet known which ornaments these are exactly. But there is at least one picture of glowing lanterns, shrine gates and an artificial dragon:
What else is planned for Anno 1800?
So far, the major game updates have always been linked to the release of a DLC. In 2023 there will be at least one major patch that will be released independently. The free update is planned for spring, which should bring quality of life improvements as well as bug fixes.
In 1800 it was Steam: On December 8th, not only will Rise of the New World be the final big DLC for Anno 1800, the game will also return to Steam. Anno 1800 was originally announced for Steam, but then migrated to the Epic Store. So currently only the people who pre-ordered Anno 1800 on Steam own it before the migration. From December 8th everyone can buy Anno 1800 again on Steam. The game will also be coming to consoles soon:

A successor will come
Unsurprisingly, Anno 1800 will not be the last Anno. While no concrete successor has been announced yet, the team is now turning its attention in that direction. The blog mentions that the concept phase for the next Project
started. A lot of feedback from the community on Anno 1800 should also be included here, as well as the empirical values from this large-scale project.
Accordingly, there are still no details about the next year. When it will appear can only be guessed at. If the team is only now going into the concept phase, we expect at least four years of development time. At least there was that much time between Anno 2205 and Anno 1800.
The question of when and in which setting the next Anno will take place is particularly exciting. We analyzed the most likely ones.
