The Lord of the Rings will be entitled to a new AAA game that should please a very large number of fans of the franchise. On the other hand, you risk a surprise when you see who is responsible for the development of the project.
the franchise Lord of the Rings is an extremely juicy license and always has been. Novels, movies, series, video games… whatever the declension, the middle earth sold and has an incredible number of fans. There will also soon be a Gollum-themed video game, soberly called The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which will add his stone to the building. And obviously there’s another big game ahead.
The Lord of the Rings is back with a huge game soon
A new title Lord of the rings which we don’t know much about at the moment, but which promises very nice things. The game is presented in the form of an MMORPG that revisits all the codes and universe of the franchise, based in particular on the events of the saga of the series hobbits and the trilogy Lord of the rings.
Expect to be able to enter that middle earth in every nook and cranny. This new title is planned to be cross-platform and is therefore planned to be released on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. For now, these are the only things we know about the game itself. A game that promises to be particularly ambitious, but still remains very mysterious.
Embrace and Amazon go hand in hand
What is very surprising, however, is that Amazon is taking care of the development and publication, supported by its studio Amazon Games Orange County, to whom we owe the MMO New World. So, if the studio responsible for the development has absolutely nothing surprising given its experience in the field of MMOs, then it is above all the fact that Amazon refuses in an MMO project Lord of the rings That’s surprising. As a reminder, the American giant had a similar game in the pipeline a long time ago, and at that point had completely nipped the project in the bud.
But apparently, the (albeit half-hearted) success of the series was enough to restart the machine. However, water has always flowed under the bridges. Amazon had two very big hits on the MMO side ( Lost Ark etc New world) and has signed big partnerships like Blue Protocol with Namco Bandai or the next Tomb Raider with Embracer. It remains to be seen if and if so, when the game will succeed.
