Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx appears to have ceased development and been taken offline, with its creator allegedly contacted by Nintendo itself.
The news comes on the heels of the high-profile shutdown of another Switch emulator earlier this year, namely Yuzu, which saw Nintendo pursue a full-scale lawsuit and settle with Yuzu’s creators agreeing to a settlement that The settlement is based on the idea that the project is no longer one thing.

After users noticed that Ryujinx’s Github and download pages began returning error messages (or, in the latter case, text blanks), there was a message on the emulator’s Discord server from the developer (handle ripriperi) that A seemingly explanation for the situation has been shared via Ryujinx’s Twitter account.
“yesterday, [Ryujinx’s lead developer] “Nintendo has contacted gdkchan and proposed an agreement to cease work on the project and remove the organization and all related assets he controls,” the message reads. “While awaiting confirmation on whether he will accept the agreement, the organization has was removed, so I think it’s safe to say what the result was. ”

“These words are my own. I don’t want to speak for anyone else here, so keep that in mind as you read,” Rip Perry continued, before giving a eulogy for the project. As of this writing, Ryujinx’s Patreon page and website home page have not yet been removed, although attempts to access the above page return the content I outlined in that paragraph.
Both The Verge and Kotaku’s Ethan Gach reported that they tried to contact Nintendo about the matter, but Nintendo declined to comment, noting that they went to a spokesperson for the ESA (Entertainment Software Association), who said they couldn’t “I don’t represent Nintendo spoke.
