As our accompaniment to the RTX 4090 release yesterday October 12th at GameStar Tech showed, the new high-end graphics card sold out very quickly in many cases. A day later, there are hardly any models available in regular stores, and at the same time the first offers appear on Ebay – often with extremely high (scalper) prices.
After the prices for graphics cards have been steadily falling and there has been good availability, some may have harbored the opposite hope that history would not repeat itself with the RTX 4000 release. However, it currently looks as if the scalper offers could reach even worse dimensions than before.
In memory of: The official RRP of Nvidia’s Founders Edition of the RTX 4090 is already a proud 1,949 dollars, but on Ebay, prices are now usually around 1,000 dollars more or even higher. How much cheaper
You can find out which models of the RTX 4080 expected in November will be (at least officially) in our info article on the new Nvidia generation:
RTX 4000 introduced:
Everything about specs, release, prices and performance
An offer of the RTX 4090 shows the problem of scalping particularly clearly because the first image is a screenshot of a shopping cart. The RTX 4090 was bought for around 2,130 dollars, while the price of the Ebay offer is over 2,800 dollars.
The following offer also seems almost absurd. If you buy a single RTX 4090 there, you pay 4,499 dollars. If you take four of them instead, the price per piece drops only
Will the situation get worse or better in the near future?
That cannot be said with absolute certainty, because it depends very much on how quickly the regular dealers are supplied with new goods. We are contacting Nvidia, the providers of custom designs and the dealers in this regard to shed some light on this as far as possible. But you shouldn’t get too hopeful of concrete statements.
In principle, we strongly advise against taking advantage of one of the overpriced offers on Ebay, especially since the Geforce RTX 4090 was only released yesterday and with a little patience you can potentially save a lot of money. At the moment there are occasional offers in regular shops, so it’s worth keeping your eyes open.
Irrespective of this, the price for the RTX 4090 is already very high at the RRP of 1,949 dollars, but it also has a lot of performance to offer, as our test of the new Nvidia flagship impressively shows. Everyone has to decide for themselves how much they are willing to pay for it. You can find out what the tech editors think of the new GPU in the following article:

Have you already bought an RTX 4090? If yes, at what price were you able to get hold of them? And if not, are you planning to buy it in the future and would you even consider purchasing it on Ebay? Feel free to write it in the comments!
