Like Bethesda now in one FAQ has announced, in the upcoming vampire shooter Redfall your biggest threat will not be the bloodsuckers, but an unstable internet connection. Because you will not be able to play it offline alone or with your friends.
The game may be designed for multiplayer, but its developer Arcane has repeatedly pointed out that it can also be played alone. It is questionable why there is an online compulsion for the single player. As with all “always on” games, this will of course put a damper on anyone who struggles with unstable internet or generally prefers to play offline.
Most recently, Redfall fueled anticipation among vampire fans on the Xbox Bethesda show in January 2023 with its current trailer:

Furthermore, the FAQ now states that a Bethesda.net account is required to play Redfall. This has already been the case with other Bethesda games such as Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Fallout 76.
Is there any hope for offline single player in the future?
role models: Other co-op games, such as Borderlands, Gotham Knights, Monster Hunter Rise, and Marvel’s Avengers, launched straight into offline single player. This can therefore almost be taken for granted. This was confirmed, for example, by the co-op zombie shooter Back 4 Blood. He started, just like Redfall, with an online compulsion in single player. However, this was removed under pressure from the community with a patch that was submitted later. This is also possible in the case of Redfall.
Microsoft listens to the community: Since Bethesda is part of Microsoft, they can also make decisions about Redfall, which is why the favor of the tech giant can be hoped for. The Twitter user Does it Play? found that the majority of physical Xbox games required an online check before they could be installed. This was also corrected after a few months under pressure from the community, so that only a few games now require an online check.
In summary, one can say that there is hope for an offline single player. But both in the case of Back 4 Blood and the online checks, changes only came after some time. So we have to assume that Redfall will have online compulsion in single player, at least at launch.
