news Apex Legends Season 13: Ranked Play Changes
Often, the launch of new seasons is an opportunity for Respawn to make significant changes to Apex Legends. This season, that’s no exception to the rule, and we’re entitled to a lot of changes, especially in ranked mode.
A new division has been added under Bronze
Previously, starting days in Apex Legends ranked games were found in the Bronze division. This therefore made this division the starting point and the one for the least comfortable players in the game, which didn’t really lend itself to respawn.
So at the start of Season 13, a new rank appears, that of Novice. This is where all new players start in ranked play, and it’s impossible to be demoted there afterwards. Thus, bronze again becomes a division for the less comfortable players.
At the same time, new players can be sure to start in a division that itself only contains new players. As a result, Bronze rank now has a CP move introduced to play there.
Descents are available
The other issue Respawn had with Apex Legends ranked games was that some players would get stuck in a rank without necessarily being able to get out. To allow these players to revive, a relegation system was implemented.
This system, it’s simple, when you arrive in a rank you have a protection of 3 parts that prevents you from being relegated regardless of your results. But if you don’t get out of there, you will be banished to half the rank below.
CP Gain Changes
Apex Legends is all about survival, so Respawn has made sure to lower the CP gain if you do so before you hit 10th place. You are still viable, but the most interesting thing now is to survive to get the most points.
Finally, CP modifiers tied to mastery level on kills have been toned down. In summary, eliminating a lower level player this Season 13 now grants slightly less CP than, say, the previous season.
