Almost overnight, Apex Legends of its time was not only released, but also became an absolute blockbuster. Since then, the Battle Royale title has continued to grow – and now the next implementation is on the way.
The battle royale game Apex Legends, originally released by Respawn Entertainment in winter 2019, gets another implementation. As has now become known, there is now a board game on the way. This emerges from a license agreement with the tabletop makers of Glass Cannon Unplugged that has now been made public.
The board game developers want to finance the new implementation of Apex Legends via a Kickstarter campaign. Crowdfunding is scheduled to begin on May 17 this year; you can also secure your copy of the upcoming tabletop game this way.
Glass Cannon Unplugged is not inexperienced in this area, as the studio was most recently responsible for “Frostpunk: The Board Game”, which also already took up a video game franchise. Back in 2020, the board game was also financed via Kickstarter and found almost 19,000 supporters who contributed more than $2.5 million to the implementation.
The now planned “Apex Legends: The Board Game” is described as an “intensive tactical team vs. team game with miniatures for 2-4 players”. A game round should last about an hour. A first promotional image showed four previously unpainted minifigures: Bangalore, Bloodhound, Wraith and Gibraltar.
Later there will also be add-ons and extensions for the board game. Some of them are to be made public as part of the Kickstarter campaign in May. Incidentally, the development of the tabletop implementation has already lasted two years.
