Apple Arcade gives you access to dozens of games for a monthly fee, without paying for them individually. I tried it out a while back, and revisit the service every now and then to try out new games; it’s a great way to discover unique, fresh games from the comfort of anytime, anywhere, and there’s a ton of fascinating, casual titles to dive into.
The service is also constantly available, so revisit it regularly. In a month, Apple may add some games that I don’t care much about. For the next month, Apple will be stuffing Apple Arcade’s stocking with the indie gems I’ve been keeping an eye on.
This month, June, is one of the last months for Apple Arcade, with several indie titles added to the service. The service will open its digital doors to remasters of Slay the Spire, Stardew Valley, and Ridiculous Fishing, all of which are fantastic games. If you have iPad-loving kids around, games like LEGO Duplo World and Hello Kitty Island Adventure will be added on July 7 and July 14, respectively.
First off, Stardew Valley is perhaps the best farming sim out there. It’s a great co-op game, and honestly, it’s pretty comfortable. If you like working your way up the farm, befriending a wonderful town full of colorful characters, and discovering secrets along the way, then Stardew Valley has you covered.
It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re tech-savvy, you can import any PC save file from Stardew Valley to your mobile device and vice versa. I’ve been doing this for a while because I’m constantly thinking about sitting in front of my computer or in the break room and switching. It’s a niggle, but worth it if your gaming experience is anything like mine!
If Stardew Valley wasn’t your thing, then Slay the Spire might be for you. Dom hailed Slay the Spire as one of the best games to arrive on PS Plus last year, and now it’s one of the best games to arrive on Apple Arcade. This roguelike mixes deck building with dungeon crawling; craft your unique deck, slay tons of monsters, and keep collecting cards!
Last but not least, when it comes to Apple Arcade’s July highlight, it’s Ridiculous Fishing EX. It’s a new 3D remake of 2013’s Ridiculous Fishing, and it looks just as wacky. The premise is the name of the game; you’ll play as Billy the Fisherman, who seeks redemption from his past.
For whatever reason, this leads Billy to fish with unusual appliances, such as a toaster and a chainsaw. On top of that, the remake will also feature a competitive mode so you can compete to be the most ridiculous fisherman around.
Slay the Spire will join Apple Arcade’s roster of games on July 7, Ridiculous Fishing EX on July 14, and Stardew Valley on July 21. I’ve caved in and bought Stardew Valley on most platforms a while ago, but I’m definitely giving Slay the Spire its finally here. It’s been a few weeks since I started playing the new game and I’m looking forward to doing some deck building!
