Imagine owning a notebook that is also a tablet – and not because the screen is touch-sensitive.
In December we reported on information about a foldable from Apple. Of course, the first thought automatically goes towards the iPhone. What if you think that wrong?
Could Apple’s foldable be a MacBook-iPad hybrid?
At least that’s what it says Wccftech in question. As evidence, the editorial team presents a post on X/Twitter by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst and well-known leaker who has been right several times in the past.

This is what the Kuos post says: He claims that Apple is currently only working on a single foldable and that is a 20.3-inch MacBook. This should go into mass production in 2027 at the earliest.
Logically, all notebooks are foldables in the sense that they can be folded up, with a screen and a keyboard. In the case of the MacBook, however, this would mean that the keyboard would be virtual and the device would have a comparatively large screen.
Conversely, this also means: The leaker knows nothing about a possible foldable iPhone, which would actually be the most obvious idea.
Is a release in 2027 realistic?
Apple will have a roadmap for upcoming releases, but two things should be noted:
- If a possible MacBook foldable doesn’t meet the company’s expectations, it wouldn’t be surprising if the device is postponed or even scrapped.
- This is just a rumor and, as always, you should take it with caution.

There were a few changes at Apple in March that fans and iPhone owners should be aware of.
What do you think of the idea of a foldable, giant MacBook that can also double as an iPad? Would that summarize two categories of devices that work well together? Or would you rather have a foldable iPhone? Write it in the comments.
